Plant Maintenance Guide

In general, climbers are pruned during the autumn or spring. The purpose of pruning is firstly to remove all dead and diseased wood and secondly to encourage growth and flowering within the framework. It is at this time that any repairs and extensions to the climbing framework are made.
Shaping is best done in the late spring or august but no later otherwise the young growth will not ripen before winter.
