Ptadesign announced its arrival on the scene at the 1999 RHS Chelsea Flower Show with a 'Virtual Garden'. Forming the 'future' part of a three part exhibit of Writtle College to demonstrate gardens of the past, the present and the future, visitors were invited to discover different zones within this virtual garden on a computer.

In 2009, ptadesign is returning to the stage as part of the Future Gardens Exhibition. A conceptual garden based on the theme of Nature dealing with birth, growth, evolution, death and regeneration. Just as a caterpillar metamorphises into a butterfly, so designs may evolve to mimic nature or the feelings evoked by nature.
In this garden, the natural world of a wild flower meadow is juxtaposed against a tableau of brightly coloured artificial flowers which are brightly coloured, mostly spherical and cuboid but may also have elements which are partially melted as though genetically distorted.
