After a successful musical career, followed by 5 years working in an environmental field centre, maintaining and developing a 4 1/2 acres garden, I returned to academic life. At Writtle College I was awarded a B.Sc (hons) in Landscape & Garden Design.

I set up my Garden & Landscape Design Consultancy ptaDesign in 1999.

I am an ex-chairman of the Society of Garden Designers (SGD) which is the professional body for garden designers in the UK. I continue to work in helping to raise the profile of garden design in this country and abroad, lecturing and giving presentations on a wide range of related subjects.

My illustrations and designs have been used in a number of publications including ‘The Garden Design Journal’, ‘Natural Swimming Pools’ by Michael Littlewood, and ‘The Encyclopedia of Garden Design’ published by DK on behalf of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

I lecture in New Media Publishing at the University of Hertfordshire.
